Two CIHR funded postdoctoral fellowship positions are available at the University of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada. Our lab uses in vitro whole cell patch, in vivo multiunit extracellular recordings, high field MR imaging, and immunohistochemistry to investigate the mechanisms of action of therapeutic brain stimulation in small animal models. In addition, complementary neurophysiology experiments are carried out in patients with deep brain stimulators, measuring movements and psychophysical effects of stimulation.
Candidates must have a PhD with a strong background in electrophysiology and/or behavioral neuroscience, and a publication record in respected scientific journals. The first position requires whole cell patch experience. The second position requires experience with one or more of the following: extracellular neurophysiology, MR imaging, immunohistochemistry, animal models or computational modeling. A competitive salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience, in accordance with CIHR guidelines.
